Fatal Error

I downloaded the framework and the child themes. When I went through the tutorial perfectly (removing widgets and all), I get the following error message:
"Fatal error: Can't use function return value in write context in /home/content/58/5172258/html/doorbellnashville/wp-content/themes/idxthemes_framework/src/updater/Idx_Themes_Updater.php on line 69"
I have the most recent version of WordPress uploaded also.
I stepped back, uninstalled WordPress at the root site, and redid everything again, exactly as the video requires. Same error. Help?
