Creating some homepage rotating background images can provide a nice aesthetic boost to your website's homepage. However, please proceed with caution. Adding too many background images or not taking the time to really optimize your images for performance can cause slow page load speeds and a bad user experience.
If you do want to add some additional background images, make sure that you keep them to the bare minimum. By that, we mean a maximum of 3 images each with a maximum file size of 150KB. This will keep your site lite and page load speeds at respectable levels. If you are looking for maximum performance from your website, I would ditch the idea of rotating images all together.
